I don't really write journals because I'm not really sure if anyone actually cares to be updated on what I'm doing. I usually upload new drawings pretty sporadically so it's not like I'm gonna be off schedule or anything.
Anyway, this time there is an actual reason why certain drawings won't be updated or uploaded at all.
So I've been in college these past few months and I was taking a drawing class for architecture. That's where all my recent drawings have come from. I have uploaded 8 out of the 13 drawings for the class along with some sketches I had been doing in my free time onto dA. I was going to photograph the rest of my assignments and scan the drawings from my sketchbook over winter break. Right before break, I had to submit all my assignments from the semester along with my sketchbook for the class's final.
Apparently, sometime after my portfolio was graded, it went missing. The professor and the TA aren't sure if they misplaced it, someone accidentally grabbed the wrong portfolio, or if someone took it on purpose. All I know is that I was supposed to be able to pick it up this past Tuesday and it wasn't there. So now I'm back at home, without my portfolio (which I've been using for the past 6 years), and I'm rightfully pissed about this.
I'm just letting you all know that because that stuff is missing, there's gonna be some delay on what I can submit. So here's exactly the problems I'll be having.
- Adventure Time Girls (Marceline, Fionna, Flame Princess, Ice Queen, Princess Bubblegum): I only have bad, cell phone quality pictures of them. I was planning on inking them by hand and then finishing them digitally but I never got a chance to ink or scan them. I might try do them entirely with my tablet if my portfolio isn't found but it may take longer than I planned.
- Dove Cameron: I was going to scan it and possible color it digitally but that's not happening unless my sketchbook is found. My original plan was to scan the drawing as black and white so I wouldn't have to ink it. That would save me a lot of time, it would have looked nicer than the current photo, and I would have been able to color it. But now that I can't scan it, all I have is the photo to work with and it's not good enough quality to try and work with it now. So if I don't get my portfolio back, this drawing will stay as is.
- Elsa Sketches: These were going to be possibly inked by hand but definitely scanned, colored, and uploaded individually. However, I never got a chance to do that so right now it will stay as it is. Like with the Adventure Time sketches, I might try to finish them entirely with my tablet but it all depends on if I get my sketchbook back or not. I do plan on finishing these eventually but they're going to take longer than planned.
The other larger problem that occurs from this mess is that I only have 8 of my 13 assignment drawings photographed and those were taken in bad lighting with my phone camera. So not only are they bad quality photos, there are another 5 drawings from the class that were never photographed at all.
TL;DR: Almost all the work I did this past semester in that class was in that portfolio and now it's missing and it's just completely ridiculous.
